Ocilla Busted Mugshots and Booking
Ocilla is the Irwin County seat. It is the only city fully inside the county. The 2024 Irwin County and City of Ocilla Comprehensive Plan lists a 2020 population of 3,498. Treat that locally adopted figure as the city reference. Other tables use different estimates, and the numbers should not be mixed.
Chief Ashley Jones leads the Ocilla Police Department, which handles municipal patrol and investigations. Sheriff Cody Youghn heads the Irwin County Sheriff's Office. A custodial arrest by either agency, or by another authority, typically moves into the county detention process. The Irwin County Detention Center at 132 Cotton Drive is the usual booking destination. The arresting agency or the jail can confirm a named case. No official OPD blotter, booking view, or county roster exists online.
Where Ocilla Busted Mugshots Appear
Start with official records. Each source answers a different question. Ocilla has no verified daily bulletin or named-person booking feed, and the sheriff has no confirmed online roster. Even so, a records request can ask for a booking photo an agency keeps on file, whether or not one is posted on a public page.
| Channel | Photo? | Official? | Access and scope |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ocilla Police | Not posted as a feed | Yes | Ask the city records custodian for an incident or arrest record. |
| Irwin jail and sheriff | Request only, no verified web view | Yes | Call the jail for current custody and the sheriff to confirm the records custodian. |
| Court and re:SearchGA | No booking-photo field promised | Yes | Use the court case for charges, orders, and disposition, subject to coverage and fees. |
| GDC Find an Offender | Photo when available | Yes, state | Search state custody or supervision after the local booking stage. |
| The Ocilla Star and WALB Irwin | Varies by story | No | Editorial coverage and leads, not a complete arrest list. |
| Mugshots.com Irwin page | Yes, historical entries | No | Unofficial material with visible 2011-2016 filters, not a current Ocilla feed. |
The Ocilla Police Department page is the official spot to learn about the department's role and how to reach it. It identifies the agency. It does not offer a live list of names.

Any image found there is a source reference, not a hosted booking portrait. For a person-specific photo, the question belongs with the record custodian, under the request and publication rules that apply.
Finding an Ocilla Booking
No official online roster or feed exists. A phone-first approach beats any generic directory. The county-wide Irwin County busted mugshots search path lays out the shared jail, court, state, and federal distinctions. For an Ocilla case, work through the steps in order.
- Identify the agency. Start with Ocilla Police if the event was municipal, or the sheriff if a county deputy made the arrest. Keep the approximate date, place, and agency name.
- Call the jail. Ask Irwin County Jail at 229-468-4121 whether the person is currently held and which public identifier belongs in a request. Do not use emergency dispatch for routine research.
- Request the records. Ask the sheriff which Open Records Officer holds the intake file, then name the booking record and maintained booking photograph as separate items.
- Check the court stage. Use the Irwin clerk and PeachCourt or re:SearchGA for the filed case, first-appearance orders, and later disposition. A booking charge is not a final court result.
- Change systems only when custody changes. Use GDC for a state-sentenced or supervised person, BOP for federal custody, and ICE's civil locator for an immigration detainee. These systems do not replace county jail confirmation.
Someone booked hours ago may still be in the jail, while a released person will not show up in a current custody view. The booking record can still be requested after release, as long as it stays within the agency's retention and disclosure rules.
Ocilla Police Records and Requests
Ocilla Police records and Irwin jail records overlap. They are not the same thing. The police department may hold the incident or arrest report, while the jail holds intake, bond, release, and booking-photo material. City council records include monthly Police Department and Criminal Investigation Division activity reports. Those are not a named-person blotter. A request can still ask for an existing activity report without treating it as a full booking list.

City Clerk Donna Prather is the published route for an OPD records request. Council minutes from November 21, 2024 approved a per-page charge, written as “.25 cents per page.” That wording is unclear. Ask for a current estimate instead of quoting it as a firm fee. No city photo fee or local turnaround time was published. Georgia's Open Records Act allows a three-business-day response window, with an estimate or a withholding explanation if the record cannot be produced that quickly.
The Ocilla City Clerk records page is the official request source. It shows a records route, not a public photo archive.

For a booking image, direct the request to the custodian who keeps the jail file. Ask the sheriff to identify that officer before sending any sensitive details.
Ocilla Busted News Is Story-Based
The Ocilla Star is Irwin County's weekly paper. It runs news, archives, and an e-edition. That means no daily arrest blotter. Coverage follows an editorial schedule instead, touching Ocilla government, police, courts, and community events. WALB's Irwin County section moves faster on breaking incidents, and it may report OPD, sheriff, GBI, or task-force cases as events warrant. Neither outlet gives you a complete booking feed.
Read each story closely. Look for the named agency, the date, the incident location, and the stated image source. A story photo might come from an agency. It might show evidence or a scene, or be file art. Do not relabel it as an Ocilla booking photo without confirmation from the jail custodian. The wider county media path is gathered in Mugshots in the News, where official sources stay the reference point.
Note: Editorial coverage follows news value and may omit arrests, later corrections, releases, and court dispositions.
Ocilla Busted Counts and the Roster Gap
Irwin County publishes aggregate booking counts under the Georgia Criminal Alien Track and Report Act. Updates come quarterly. The 2025 numbers ran 97 bookings in the first quarter, 108 in the second, 78 in the third, and 73 in the fourth. That totals 356 booking events countywide. Treat the totals with care, though. They are not an Ocilla-only list. They are not a count of unique people, and not a live custody roster. No names, charges, booking dates, bond amounts, release details, or photos appear anywhere in the report.
Nothing else fills the gap. Irwin County has no official online jail roster. It has no current-inmate lookup and no daily or weekly booking feed from the sheriff or the Ocilla police. The sheriff-linked LEMS page is actually a sex-offender registry, not a custody list. The county's MyLS app covers general civic services, not jail bookings. So a site advertising a "current" Ocilla arrest feed is not drawing on any of these official sources.
Note: A county booking total can describe activity without identifying a person or showing whether an Ocilla case reached court.
After an Ocilla Arrest
After a warrantless arrest in Georgia, a first appearance must happen within 48 hours. With a warrant, the window stretches to 72. Bond can step in ahead of either deadline. At that hearing the judge goes over the charges and the arrested person's rights, though it is not the same thing as an arraignment, a trial, or a final outcome. For superior court criminal filings in Irwin County, contact Nancy Ross, Clerk of Superior and Juvenile Court, at 301 S. Irwin Avenue, Suite 103, Ocilla, or call 229-468-5356. The county court directory and re:SearchGA can help track down a case, while PeachCourt access and document availability vary with each court.
Not every locator covers every system. The Georgia Department of Corrections Find an Offender search reaches only the state-corrections slice, and a GDC photo, when one shows up, usually reflects state custody or supervision rather than a fresh Ocilla booking. The BOP federal locator offers no public photo field. Neither does the ICE Online Detainee Locator. ICE stopped housing detainees at the Cotton Drive facility in 2021, so an old reference to that site says nothing about who holds a person now.
A few terms trip people up. Booking is jail intake. Bond is the release condition or amount set at that stage. Disposition is the court's later outcome. Keeping those stages straight makes any Ocilla record or news story easier to read.
Ocilla Busted Mugshot Law and Retention
Georgia law puts real limits on booking photos. O.C.G.A. § 35-1-19 generally bars an arresting agency from posting them on its website, which is why no official Irwin roster or Ocilla police gallery exists. A photo can still have been taken, and it can still be requested. The Georgia Open Records Act, including O.C.G.A. § 50-18-71, controls how that request works, along with exemptions, redactions, and copy costs. Name the specific record you want. Ask for a written estimate too.
Removal works differently depending on who holds the image. For a qualifying photo held by a commercial publisher, O.C.G.A. § 10-1-393.5 and the Georgia Attorney General's mugshot guidance lay out a no-fee removal remedy, and the publisher faces a 30-day deadline once a compliant request lands. Record restriction under O.C.G.A. § 35-3-37 is a separate, eligibility-based path; the Georgia Courts restriction resources are the right starting point for that question. Irwin County has no published takedown policy. Correct an official error with the record's custodian, and never assume any service can scrub every independent article. Check the free statutory route and the source's own correction policy before paying anyone.
Old bookings have their own rules. Georgia Archives schedule LG-19-060 requires jail booking records to be kept for 10 years after release, though retention is one thing and online visibility is another. To chase an older Ocilla booking, start with the sheriff or the county custodian. Bring the name, approximate dates, and record type, then ask whether the file survives, was lawfully destroyed, or moved elsewhere. The Georgia Archives retention schedules explain the general schedule, but they do not amount to a digitized mugshot collection.
